Cardinal Hockey; What's it all about?

2012-13 Men's Hockey Intro

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome to "Cardinal Hockey: A Look from Within." My name is Alex Montalbano and I am the current Equipment Manager for the Plattsburgh State University Cardinals Hockey program. I had the idea of starting this blog to give everyone an inside look at what goes into a successful college hockey program.

First things first, the Cardinals play at Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena (commonly referred to as the "Ronald B.") Stafford Arena has a capacity of 1,924, and is usually 95% full if not sold out. The Cardinals enjoy major success on home ice, as the atmosphere provided by the team and fans, along with the beauty of the facility provides a one-of-a kind experience for Division III College Hockey.

The Cardinals traditional rivals are the Lakers from Oswego State University. This past season, the Cardinals took 2 out 3 from the Lakers (Plattsburgh @ Oswego 12-1-12) however, the Lakers took the one that ultimately mattered, the SUNYAC Championship.

The 2013-14 season looks promising for the Cards as they are returning some very key players, and also bringing in another freshmen class that looks loaded with talent. Check back often to see what else is new in Cardinal Country

Thanks for reading,
-Monty
